“Indeed, back when they were in college, the area around Independence Hall was a hip upscale area of swing dancing, cool speak-easiess and fun restaurants, in complete contrast to the loud obnoxious nightclubs that lined the Delaware River. But since they graduated, drugs and violence had closed the Delaware River clubs, and Josh’s favorite bar, The Five Spot, had been taken over by shady figures that burned it to the ground for the insurance money. The Delaware River club alums, with their Roided-up muscles, slutty clothes, multiple tattoos and Daddy/Mommy issues, had migrated up to Olde City and turned it into a virtual sewer. It did not help that Danny Bonaduce had taken up shop at 2nd and Chestnut, right in the heart of things; made things much worse as a matter of fact. The party was over, as far as Josh was concerned.”
